Tutorial Trial Thursday & A Thank You Giveaway

The Finished Product!

My Cathedral WIndow Pin Cushion

Updated on 02/04/13

Winner of Giveaway is One English Teacher! Congratulation!

Hey Guys!

Well, I am back with a new tutorial!  Today I put on trial the Cathedral Window Pin Cushion by Kim from My Go-Go Life.  You should really check out her blog!  Full of color and projects, I absolutely love it!

Let me first tell you about my tutorial experience.

  • How long did it take?  It took me about an hour to complete.
  • Was it easy to follow? The tutorial was easy to follow because it had a bunch of pictures to follow along with.
  • Do you have any tips?  I would suggest you take make sure you pin down the scraps before your turn down.  I was not careful and left my corner uncovered, so I had to find my seam ripper. ;0/
  • Would you make it again?  Of course, and guess what?  I will make one for one of my lucky readers. Just comment for one entry! Follow me for another entry! (put “I Follow” as a comment for it to count) Send a friend over too!

I decided to give away one of these wonderful pin cushions as a thank you for everyone that keeps encouraging me!  Plus, it’s fun putting things in the mail!  Good Luck!  You need to comment by Sunday at 7pm.  Then I will do a drawing!

Here are the pictures of the “Process.”  Enjoy the eye candy.

Work In Progress

Hey Guys!

Do you remember these pictures!  I have been racking my brain on how to put these block together.  This week, this will be my WIP.  Today I finished sewing white squares around them all.  This will be a set for a friend who ALREADY HAD THE BABY!  I am so disappointed in myself for not getting it done sooner.  Hopefully tomorrow I will have some real progress!

My Lovely January Finish

image004

Hey Guys!

I have been very busy this month!  The Lovely Year of Finish is really helping me stay focus on my goals.  You can check out more finishes at this flicker group, which is called A Lovely Year of Finishes and is sponsored by Sew Bitter Sweet Designs.

I am surprised I got done what I did do and now that I think about it …I feel very accomplished!  I know I am improving with my sewing.  For example, I think I am doing much better with my binding and being consistent with my quarter inch seam.  They say practice make perfect.  Enough of that!  My goal for this month was:

“This month my goal is to complete a project I started last year.   I need to quilt and bind two baby quilts and make matching burp cloths”

Well here are the finishes!

These Burp Cloths are made of Gerber Baby Diapers. I decided to leave one without fabric.

Sew Can She Sewalong Completed

sewalongbutton2

Hey Guys,

Well, I am have completed the It’s A New Year Sewalong.  I made my Happy Husband a Chevron Desk Mat.  Let me further explain!  My husband has problems with his wrist so when he types he uses a orange towel to help him be as comfortable as he can be while he types.  The towel was full of purpose but no style, now enters the Chevron Desk Mat.  It perfectly fits the keyboard and mouse!  He can also fold it towards the keyboard for extra cushion. Here is my submission:
