Karefully Made

Life. Love. Quilts.

Another Pink Rainbow in Sight

Hey Guys!

I have a question…Do you ever find yourself agonizing over a project?  I am …I am working on three quilts for one of my BEST friends and I have been agonizing.  I think it is easy to make something for your Mother…she loves everything you like or maybe even someones kid but sometimes friends ….you just want to impress.  You all ever go through that?  Well …I am not ready to show her project just yet…maybe next week. Today I will be showing another Pink Rainbow. This quilt was made from the remaining pink and white squares left over.  I finished the quilt top just an hour ago…here is a pictures.

Another Pink Rainbow

Tomorrow I plan on quilting and binding this baby.  I am thinking about adding the Birthday Girls name on the back…it just depends!  Well that is all for now.

Hanging with Mr. Porter

I really love this guy!

I really love this guy!

Hey Guys!

I am sure you are wondering where I have been…well I have been hanging out with my Wonderful Happy Husband!   With that said, I cannot wait until Happy Time starts.  What is “Happy Time?”  Well, Happy Time starts the moment my husband goes to work and honestly I cannot wait until 6:30 Monday morning.  My Husband work in the school system and has been off for a whole week.  While the time was fun and enjoyable I am ecstatic my Happy Time back!  I have so much to share with you guys….new fabric, projects and even an update on my Quilting Wish List.  I have also been nominated for another blog award! HOW COOL IS THAT!  Last but not least, hopefully I will be opening my Etsy store in March!  Could you guess what I will be selling?  Here  is a hint….what do you use to finish a quilt?  I will post more on this topic later this week.

I have done some blogging for my quilt guild here in Atlanta.  If you want to fully understand a Mug Rug then check out my post at The West Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild blog.  We are having a Mug Rug swap on Thursday and I am still not finished with that thing!

Until next time, Sew Pretty!

Tutorial Trial Thursday

Hey Guys!

Is it STILL Thursday? Technically it is…anyway!  Today’s trial comes from Chasing Cotton’s Pop Flower Coaster.  If you get a chance go check out her blog ….very cute!  Let me say…I wanted to practice some appliqué only because I am in the process of planning my entry for Project Quilting. Let’s see the results:

  • How long did it take?  It took me about an hour to complete.
  • Was it easy to follow? It was easy to follow but my “coaster” came out more like a mug rug, which I don’t mind.
  • Do you have any tips?  I really had a hard time following the circle.  This will be an area I will have to work at but it you can do …go on with Ya Bad Self!
  • Would you make it again?  Yes, I will!  I have to, only because this trial did not produce the best results.  Practice makes perfect, on the other hand….I think I would even put these pretty flowers on a quilt!  Wouldn’t that be cute?

Heres some pictures for you!

Here is a closer look at my …circle?

This is the back….this whole project was made of scraps and charm squares I got from a charm swap in December.  Fabric well used!

Okay guys!  That is all for now.  Until next time, Sew Pretty!

Work In Progress

Hey Guys!

You remember this?

I am so over it!  I have instead started over!  I decided to take the Scrappy Trip Along route.  Today I made myself a sample…Let’s take a look.

The baby I am making this for (Bently) nursery is decorated with pirates!  I really like how this is shaping up.  I am starting to feel inspired.  My plan is to make a quilt, a car seat quilt and a set of burp cloths.  It is my hope to be done with the main quilt this weekend.  I think I can do it!

Here are all of my cuts!

I am linking up to Freshly Pieced for WIP.  Until next time, Sew Pretty!

Reversed Tote and Zipper Pouch

2013-02-05 09.44.31 pm

Hey Guys,

Today on a whim I took the Bag Making Basics.  I purchased the kit and have had it sitting in my stash for awhile.  This class was wonderful and I had a great time making it!  Here are the finished results:

I really like the colors of all the fabric.  The fabric comes from the the Liberty of London line.  You can find it here.
Close up of the zipper pouch.  It’s Lined!

The tote bag is also reversible and has a pocket!  Hello!  I cannot believe I made a pocket.  i am sure it is not  THAT big of a deal but to me…ground breaking ;0)

Well, that is all for now.  Tomorrow, I will be back with some blocks!   Totally playing catch up!

Until then, Sew Pretty!
