Karefully Made

Life. Love. Quilts.

Spumoni Finished!

Hey Guys!

For the record, I actually finished this quilt last Wednesday with my Janome.  Quilting it on the Janome, which would only fill half a spool at a time was like forcing a 10 year old to eat liver and lima beans, but I did it!  This was the first quilt I made for a person that I wanted to keep for myself… it is sooo pretty!  Here are the pictures:

I had to take frequent breaks because of Hello Kitty.

Here I am sewing the binding.

I really had fun piecing the back together.

Washed and folded.  I love how the quilt looks after it is washed.

So guys, what you think?  I think this is my prettiest quilt yet!  With that said I am already working on another one.  I still have pictures to show you of two I am in the process of making and my shame for still not completing my friends baby quilt.   I have to finish that quilt! I will post more tonight maybe?  I am linking up to Plum and June for Let’s Get Acquainted Monday and Quilt Story.   If you are visiting from there please comment!  I love comments and finding new blog to read and be inspired by!

Until next time, Sew Pretty!

  1. This is so pretty! I’m not surprised you want to keep it 🙂

  2. Wow, great job. I love the colours.

  3. It’s beautiful, looks like a delicious fruity salad x

  4. I just finished a herringbone quilt top myself and was going to quilt it following the patchwork, but you inspired me and I think straight lines like yours is the way! Thanks for sharing!

  5. You did a fantastic job! It’s very pretty. I love the back! I’ve never done a pieced back before, but I think one of the projects I have queued up requires it. I should do them more because they look really neat. I am inspired to do a similar pattern–I keep seeing this one!

  6. I think you picked the perfect name for this quilt! It really turned out nice. 😉

  7. Very lovely – such great colours!

  8. Just beautiful! I love that color scheme!

  9. I love braid quilts. And I liked your improvisational back too. Great colors.

  10. This is a beautiful quilt! I love the muted colors together…is spumoni a dessert? That’s my best guess!

I have to ask, is Hello Kitty your Janome? Do you have lots of problems with it? I have a Janome and my bobbin winder is really slow and squeaky lately, but it will still fill the bobbin. Are you having issues with winding your bobbins. I’m going to use mine until it won’t turn anymore and then I’ll get it fixed, I guess, but I’m not looking forward to that bill.

    Thanks for linking up!

    • Yes, spumoni is an Italian dessert. It’s molded ice cream made with layers of pistachio, cherry and chocolate. My teacher from my Modern Quilt class suggested the name. I did own the Hello Kitty Janome and it served me well until I had the bobbin issues. I had it for about nine months and QVC allowed me to return it, Thank God! That is how I got my Bernina. Just the same I think they are good machines. I have plenty of friends with Janome machines that they LOVE. If the machine is still under warranty I would start there!

  11. It turned out great. Congratulations

  12. Lovely quilt. I love your quilting and the colours. Looks spectacular after the wash! Great job!!
