Greater Atlanta Shop Hop Bounty

Hey Guys!

The Greater Atlanta Shop Hop was a real experience for me!  It was my first time and I was excited to visit all 10 shops in the Atlanta area.  I started my journey on the day I picked up Princess Bernina.  Before I went to the Atlanta Sewing Center, I stopped at the Quick Trip and played a scratch off….and I won $100!  I knew then it was going to be a great weekend!

Greater Atlanta Shop Hop

I put my cash in my pocket to spend just for Shop Hop!

My first stop was Intown Quilters, which is my regular stop for all my fabric needs.  This is what I got:

Greater Atlanta Shop Hop

I am in love with Melody Miller!  The raindrops are a Alexander Henry print….I keep hearing Raindrops keep falling on my head…. The pattern below is one I have been looking at for weeks.  I had to get it! Greater Atlanta Shop Hop

My photo bomber…Zeus.  He was determined to get my attention.  Now here is the best part of shop hop…every shop you go to you get a little grab bag with coupons, fabric scraps, candy and a free pattern!  If you spend more the $30 in a shop you get a free strip set.  Well I did not spend $30 in every shop ….NOT RICH!  HELLO!!!  So instead you can buy the strip set for $6 in each shop.  That sounded like a plan! Here is what I got from Intown:

That pattern looks super cool!

Next shop was, Sweet Home Quilt Co.  No where close to my house but I think I would go back!

Greater Atlanta Shop Hop

They had a great selection of pre-cut there.

Stich N’Quilt was the cutest shop and it had a room full of cat fabric!  The owner was this sweet lady who informed me …she tweets!  Made me think about my Grand …aways trying to let me know …she still got it!  LOL

A Scarlet Thread was amazing!  They had a great selection of fabric …alot of batiks, which is not really my thing.  They also had some design wall fabric that is a must have for my sewing room.  I just got a strip set there.

Next up is Red Hen Fabrics.  They had their fabric arranged by color.  It was amazing!

Greater Atlanta Shop Hop

Little Quilts was not little at all!  They had a great collection of modern fabrics!  I happen to find a jelly roll of Chicopee…. I LOVE CHICOPEE!  Plus I got a free charm pack and some really cool coupons.

Georgia Sewing & Quilting was very far for me in Buford Ga.  I will see them next year!  I got a strip set and this very cute sewing set.

Tiny Stitches has a great selection of modern fabric and I when I saw all these dots I had to get them!

Last but not least is Patrick’s.  This shop is also far from me but I will be back!  They also sell plants, feeds and all kinds of nuts!  I grab a bag for my Happy Husband and he loved them!

The Original Sewing Expo

Hey Guys!

Saturday, I went with some sewing buddies and went to the Original Sewing Expo.  This is the first time I ever went to something like the expo and I really did not know what to expect.  It was really amazing! There was sewing machines….Vikings, Babylocks, Free Motion Machines..I tried them all.  I think my next machine will be a Babylock.   I really like the Babylock Tempo.  What do you guys think?  I sat in for a few lectures, tried out a bunch of notions and purchased  the bias tape ruler and a new seam ripper.  I saw a demo on the Go Baby!  I think I will have to save for that one.  I did not win anything but all in all it was a great day.  Oh, I forgot, I got some fabric!  Here’s today’s eye candy:

This fabric is called Vintage Valentine by Kokka, which was purchased at Some Art Fabric.

This is called Transistor Radios from the collection Ruby Star Rising by Melody Miller.  I plan on making the Happy Husband and I iPad covers. If you guys saw a tutorial for it please let me know! Also, in this picture is my new seam ripper!  I will let you know how it works out for me.

Alexander Henry Bistro

This fabric caught my heart!  I saw it at the beginning and went back right before I left.  It is called “Bistro” by Alexander Henry.  This is not the first Alexander Henry I got…I think he is my new favorite!

Well, that is all for now, until next time…Sew Pretty!

Stash Building #3 & Project Quilting

Hey Guys,

Have you ever look at your husband (or significant other) and thought to yourself, “I am so lucky!”  Well that is how I felt when I came home and saw a package at my door.  After all, he is my fabric sponsor and he did say…”Get that fabric, you deserve it!”  He’s amazing *sigh* … ;0)   Sorry guys…back to the fabric.Image

Do you remember the picture above?  I blogged about it in this post.  The quilt above is for my friend Tasha, well actually her son.  She has the sweetest, happiest, beautiful baby boy who desperately deserves a quilt.  Well guess what? In my package I got the fabric I need to finish the baby’s car seat quilt.  I am going to use this plaid fabric for the binding.  I think it is going to be so pretty! What do your think?

Image

I also got all this fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop.  The collection is called Lobster Shore Thing by Emily Herrick.  Emily blogs over at Crazy Old Lady.  The fabric below is to make him some extra goodies.  I will share once I am done.

In other news:

I have been working all day on my Project Quilting.  Project Quilting is a contest I have entered and if you scroll down to the right you will see the button.

ImageThis contest is very similar to Project Runway.  Twice a month during the “season” Kim posts a challenge.  The current challenge is a square within a square.  I have been hard at work all week!  This process has really pushed my limits but I think it will be worth it!  I hope you take some time and check it out! Until next time, Sew Pretty!

Consider this my confession of my obsession …fabric!  I hide it in my craft storage cabinet so the Happy Husband really can’t see how bad my obsession is.  What can I say I absolutely love fabric!  Over this holiday season, I took advantage of all the holiday sales and I thought I would share  my bounty.

Here is my fat quarter bundle of Architextures.  You can see more of this collection (here).  This collection was created by Carolyn Friedland, check her out (here).  I made my purchase at a Etsy shop called Tactile, the link is (here).  Image

I alos have been hoarding fat quarters of Citrus Madrona Road.  I am determined I am going to use it.  It is the prettiest fabric I have!
