Book Review

Book Review

Hey Guys!

I am finally ready to do a review on this book!  Little Bits Quilting Bee by Kathreen Ricketson is a wonderful book.  What I like about it the most is that I want to make almost every project in this book.  Every quilt is made of nothing but pre-cuts and after reading each one seems to come together really fast.  I highly recommend this book for a new beginner or for the last minute quilt..  Every project is beautiful and if you are interested in finding out more about the author you can go to her blo, http://www.whipupp.net..

Well not only did I want to tell you about the book, I thought i would make something out of it also!  This project is a two for one deal because I will be making this project for a little girl and also submitting this quilt into project quilting lastest challenge!  I have finished all of the cutting and have completed the first row!  The quilt is called Cloud song and we are suppose to make something that reminds us of spring.  Well it does.  April showers bring May flowers!!  Here are some pictures of course:

I hope to be back later today with a complete quilt top.  After all….the finish quilt has to be done by Sunday!  Have a great da, you guys …..until next time, Sew Pretty!

Mayven’s Pink Rainbow & More

Hey Guys!

I thought I would give you all an update on the current quilt I am working on!  Let me first say thank you to Stitching Grandma for suggesting this tutorial to help me with my appliqué.  Let me just say it worked!  Here are the results….

I was so happy that I defeated the appliqué monster that I decided to add the Birthday Girl’s name to her Pink Rainbow!  I put her name on the back in orange …which I also think I will be binding this quilt with!  Here are the pictures for you:

I am really in love with this quilt!  The good news is I see this little girl often so I can once again look at this pretty Pink Rainbow!

Tutorial Trial Thursday

IMG_0057

Hey Guys!

Is it STILL Thursday? Technically it is…anyway!  Today’s trial comes from Chasing Cotton’s Pop Flower Coaster.  If you get a chance go check out her blog ….very cute!  Let me say…I wanted to practice some appliqué only because I am in the process of planning my entry for Project Quilting. Let’s see the results:

  • How long did it take?  It took me about an hour to complete.
  • Was it easy to follow? It was easy to follow but my “coaster” came out more like a mug rug, which I don’t mind.
  • Do you have any tips?  I really had a hard time following the circle.  This will be an area I will have to work at but it you can do …go on with Ya Bad Self!
  • Would you make it again?  Yes, I will!  I have to, only because this trial did not produce the best results.  Practice makes perfect, on the other hand….I think I would even put these pretty flowers on a quilt!  Wouldn’t that be cute?

Heres some pictures for you!

This is the back….this whole project was made of scraps and charm squares I got from a charm swap in December.  Fabric well used!
