Fresh Start & New Finishes

My Grandmom and my son.

My Grandmom and my son.

Hey Guys,

I am sure you have been wondering where I have been…well I have actually been to Philadelphia.  I went to see my Grandmother who was recently in the hospital and today I heard news that she stood up and took two steps.   This means she is well on the road to recovery.  I am relieved now that I am once again at home with my sewing machine…I mean husband ;0).   I have so much to share with you guys!  I finally finished the Cloud Song!

Front of Cloud Song

Front of Cloud Song:  This quilt was much harder than I though but overall it was really fun to put together.  Quilting it was really hard to do …it was hard deciding what to do.  I ended up making diagonal lines 6 inches apart and I think I pretty happy with it.

Back of Cloud Song

Back of Cloud Song:  The back I did some appliqué.  I used a blanket stitch to finish it off.  I think the blanket stitch is my new favorite.

That is not all!   Even though I was unable to post for my lovely year of finishes, I did finish my quilt top for Bentley.  Here are the pictures:

I really love all the colors!

I really love all the colors!  I can’t explain why it too me so long to finish but I finally get to join the Scrappy Trip Around the world club.  :0)

Last but not least, I have one more quilt to show.  As soon as I found out my Grandmom was is the hospital,  I started making a quilt for her recovery.  That is how much I believed she was going to be okay.   A friend helped me finish it a day before I left to go to Philadelphia and I carried this quilt with me on the train, then later to the hospital.  Here are the pictures:

Here is the quilt folded.  I used the pattern called the St. Louis 16 Patch.  This pattern comes together really fast..I mean we finished the quilt in one day!  The quilt measured finished 60 by 60 inches.

Here the quilt is folded to show the back of the quilt.  The fabric is from the collection Madrona Road by Violet Craft.  You can buy it at the Fat Quarter Shop.

Here is the quilt opened up.  I really love the colors! My Mom said it reminded her of candy because my Grandmom really loves every type of candy.

Well that is all for now, I am sure that is enough!  LOL  I hope you are having a great day ;0)

Until, Next Time Sew Pretty!

Work In Progress

Hey Guys!

Well…my husband is home today, he is under the weather but while he resting he is constantly saying…You working on my quilt for my friend?  Oh it soooo pretty!  He is really cracking me up!  Any other time he be complaining about my other Sewing MANchine Fabio (because my SM is temperamental with the stitching) Any who I have finished all my cutting and now piecing together the blocks.  The blocks are from a tutorial which I will talk about more on Thursday.  Here is a picture for you..I may post again tonight on my progress.

I got this fabric from Fat Quarter Shop the collection is call Les Amis by Patty Sloniger for Michael Miller Fabrics.  I get 10 fat quarters every month from their monthly program.  I added a two solids to each of the two color groups.

Two Groups

Here are both groups of the fabric.  I added the solid strip and the white dot fabric.  I think the turtles are super cute!

I have finished three blocks and stitched them together.

So far, I have finished three blocks and stitched them together.

Here is a picture of all the cut strips sorted…sorting done by the Happy Husband!  He has a “toss method.”  He literally tossed the strips in the air and then stacked them up.  I really think he was entertaining himself. ;0)

I will be linking up to Freshly Pieced today for WIP.  If you are visiting from there please let me know, I love to hear to your comments!

Until next time, Sew Pretty!

Stash Building #1

Consider this my confession of my obsession …fabric!  I hide it in my craft storage cabinet so the Happy Husband really can’t see how bad my obsession is.  What can I say I absolutely love fabric!  Over this holiday season, I took advantage of all the holiday sales and I thought I would share  my bounty.

Here is my fat quarter bundle of Architextures.  You can see more of this collection (here).  This collection was created by Carolyn Friedland, check her out (here).  I made my purchase at a Etsy shop called Tactile, the link is (here).  Image

My next order came from the same fabric store, Tactile.  This collection is called Type by Julia Rothman, she blogs over at http://www.juliarothman.com.  Here is what I got…

I absolutely love the typewriters!

Next, I want to show you a collection I am working with on a baby quilt.  Out to Sea by Sarah Jane is so cute!  this collection is full of boats and pirates, perfect for the little people in your life.  You can find it (Here).

There was a sale at my local fabric shop and I grabbed up some Kona Solids.

I alos have been hoarding fat quarters of Citrus Madrona Road.  I am determined I am going to use it.  It is the prettiest fabric I have!

Last but not least, I ordered from the Fat Quarter Shop, Sew Stitchy by Aneela Hoey who blogs over at Comfort Stitching.  This whole line is on sale and the charm packs are only $6.00!!  I don’t have any pictures because I broke out and got to sewing all the wonderful 5 inch squares together.  I am making something for myself!  I absolutely love this line!

I still have more fabric coming in and I will post as it comes in! Until next time …Sew Pretty!
